331 Days
2018-present
331 Days is an ongoing project created by Jasmine Smith whilst on her Erasmus year in Madrid, Spain. The body of work consists of images that illustrate her exploring her new home, as an outsider, for the next 331 days, through the medium of photography. Fashion and portrait photography being the chosen genre to complete this project in, allows Smith to connect and engage with her foreign surroundings, by visiting new and diverse places around Madrid, taking photos in each. Smith makes a conscious effort to use new people from her university as the subject within the images, permitting herself to meet new people from all over the world, captivating each person’s personality within. Thus, enabling Smith to get to know each person and resulting in forming new friendships and bonds. Each photoshoot is named after the location in which the images were taken in, exempting the photographs to retain their original context, whilst conveying where the photos were taken, to the audience. Creating this body of work, through the use of photography, has granted Smith to immerse herself into all that Madrid has to offer whilst engaging with the unfamiliar lifestyle and culture, sharing her experiences with people who are interested in travel or whom are interested in an Erasmus year themselves.
